六本松跡（六本松峠）は北西〜南東方向にのびる曽我山あるいは曽我丘陵とも呼ばれる大磯丘陵西端の高まりにあります。この地形的高まりには背斜構造があり、その西側には、ほぼ同方向に伸びる国府津－松田断層があります。この高まりは、褶曲や断層活動によって足柄平野の一部が隆起した部分と考えられています。ここからは箱根火山の地形が良く観察できます。中村荘と曽我荘を結ぶほか、大山参詣の道として中世の主要交通路であった中村通の途中にあります。
この峠道は源頼朝が源義経追討のため軍勢を率い京にのぼる際に通ったとされています。また『曽我物語』では「山彦山の手向 」という名で登場し、曽我十郎と大磯の遊女虎御前との別れの場として知られます。六本松峠からは箱根火山の全貌を背景に、酒匂川が形成した足柄平野を見渡せるなど、眺望も素晴らしい場所です。
Ropponmatsu is located at the west end of the Oiso hills and on the ancient highway connecting the manors of Nakamura and Soga, and also on the way to Oyama shrine.
This is also known as the place where Minamoto no Yoritomo and his army passed en route to Kyoto to chase his younger brother Yoshitsune, and it is the location of the farewell between Soga Juro and his concubine named Toragozen in the “tale of the Soga brothers”.
From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Hakone volcano, and the Ashigara plain formed by the Sakawagawa River.
